Personally I think its terrible and even slower than it was before and why we are being deluged with ads when we pay is beyond me!!!

I had a shock when I came on to this site and I thought my computer had gone wrong, I have been on this site for half an hour and I find it is straining my eyes. It needs to be improved 100% more. I hope the GR team will read this message.

Well......I hated this new version...until to-day.

I see that the left hand column with the ads etc., has decreased in size AND when viewing my family tree...I can now see all the details of a select person without having to scroll down the page.

Perhaps now GR will see that the messages on the boards need re jigging slightly and sort that one out too.

Green is supposed to be restful...........but I must say .........................white background...............black print.................much easier on the eye!

Looks good and professional but ...

... Too cluttered .... too many advertisements ... pages take eternity to koad ...adverts never looked at ... simply 'static' to format

... Trying to find ... entries too close together ... prefer more spacing between entries (I suffer from eye fatigue through age)

... Hot matches .... box where you could select "Newest" seems to have been omitted ... I don't want to have to scroll through many pages just to find new entries

Unfortunately I don't have broadband connection so takes forever to load up

Love the colours .... Wimbledon tennis .... or Fremantle 'Dockers' in AFL

For "matches", why can't they include these as ranked - 1, 2, 3 or 4 star
Example with name :
Match the birth year only - 1 star
Match birth year and location - 2 star
Match birth year, death year, location - 3 star
Match birth year, death year, marriage year, location - 4 star

There may be other combinations that could help eliminate/minimise unnecessary matches - the above are just thoughts off the top of the head.

The results pages should then allow you to rank them in order, so you can look at the HOT 3 & 4 star matches first, then wade through the 1 & 2 star as last resorts.

I was shocked at first-thought I had the wrong site. Takes a bit of getting used to, like anything new, but... I like it. The look is altogether more professional and modern and is not hard to get around. I love the colour scheme, and the gilt frames around the photographs, but...that side bar on the left is very distracting, and frankly, off putting. Surely GR could have filled the space with something of more interest to it's members who are using the site for serious research. The top bar adverts are bad enough, but lose the side bar! Otherwise, well done, GR.

A bit of a shock when I came onto the site tonight.
I'll have to get used to it, but I am sick of the "Airwick Gorilla" already and have only been on for an hour. We could do without the adverts.We come on this to ask for help or to try and help others!!

Didn't like it this morning! Still don't like it this evening!
reading the boards is extremely difficult!
Everything seems so squashed - can hardly distinguish between posts!
haven't got any glare and the adverts don't really bother me -
but I can't help on the boards if I can't read them well enough!

For one, the colours on the tree are painful to my eyes! Plus, I can't now search a name on my tree, click on it and it show up. It's going to take ages to scroll through to find a particular person.

Quite agree, it is the members who make it worth while and that was my point in saying it is a shame if people leave, so many volunteers go unnoticed.

New GR's have been done before - AND quite successfully, I might add!!

However,

I think this one is O.K. - It just needs to 'listen' a bit more and to let the 'members' help!!

After all - 'IT' provides the forum but it is the 'members' who make it a success !!!!!!!!!!!

Hi all

Maybe, there is some hidden talent out there amongst us, who could set up a new GR with a different name of course and peeps from here would know what they want.

The majority seem to have small issues with GR site, and I am being optimistic that some of the GR team may "Hear" us and make those small changes.

People are saying they will not renew their subscription, now that would be a shame,

GR do NOT have a very good CI (corporate image) on here !

Perhaps they will take note though and seek one out ??


(Then again, - perhaps not!) -although it WOULD be in their interest?)

The 'user panel ' would be a good start?

If GR didn't seek our advise when planning new lay-out, I hardly think they will act on any suggestions we make now. I would have thought there would be GR staff monitoring the sites to judge our re-actions.................................but apparently not.

Perhaps GR might consider setting up a 'Users' panel' (and I am NOT putting myself forward for this !!!!!!!!!!!!!

However, there are many people on here who have expertise on web site 'layout's' and use this, and other sites quite frequently.

There will be many people who are well placed to give good opinions on what is needed and what the members would like to see improved?

I am sure that if they look through posts they would be able to find several people who they could invite onto the 'panel' and could work together then to make the right improvements??

I wonder if GR will listen to us, and hopefully reduce advert size. The wow was because it was such a shock o see so many changes. I am still inm two minds about the changes, it has some good points and bad points.
