I agree about the laws of copyright but the tips and information would not be a direct copy as I would put things in my own way. It would be virtually imposible for me to contact individual members as I have been a member for at least 5 years and the tips and information has come from lots of people on here and other boards.

I have also put information and tips on here and am quite happy for anyone to use them so long as they are not for gain..

Our group is a non profit making group, any funds we get is used for our rent for the room, buying genealogy records, trips to local archives and Family History fairs.

We are looking at the moment of buying a Micro Fiche reader for use of our group and Local History Group and any one else who would like to use it. Also we are hoping to be able to help with transcribing of local records which will benefit everyone.

I just thought this booklet would be a good idea to help our members and new members, a lot of our members have no computer experience and need a lot of help.

I hope this explains what I am trying to do.

It might be difficult getting the relevant individuals permission as most likely they got the tips, handy hints elsewhere.

Thank you for your replies and yes I was going to put an acknowledgments in for Genes and the other boards I use.

Yes I have seen that booklets and I have a different one as well. I have done a lot of information sheets for the group in the past but we all know how bits of paper go missing so thought I would put it all together in a booklet.

There is a company called Quick123 which produces "Guides for Everything" in a series of pocket sized booklets. One of these is "Research your Family Tree". They are inexpensive but quite comprehensive and you might find it useful. ISBN is 978-1-84678-009-7. Enjoy. Keith

This is a public forum, so any info posted on here is in the public domain, and you are free to reproduce it wherever you choose.

It might, however, be a nice touch if you mentioned in your booklet that the tips were courtesy of GR members.....nothing specific.........just a general 'one-off ' acknowledgment.

Hi Everyone I am a regular member of this Board and I also help to run a Local Family History Group, Wombwell Family History Group, in Wombwell Barnsley South Yorkshire. I am in the process of putting together an Information booklet on starting researching Famly History.

I wondered if there would be any objections to me using some of the very helpful tips that people have put on here. Also I am putting in the booklet a list of websites and would like to include a few of the web sites that have been put on here.

We are a small group of people that meet once a week and help each other.

If anyone does object to me using the information would they please let me know.
