By 1830 I think there is usually more info...perhaps someone on records office boards will do a look up?
Good luck

I was just having a look around...
No Scottish born Mellors in English 1851 census
And only one Scottish born Mellors in the 1851 Scottish census

Wonder if her name was slightly different????

Am looking at the trees on Ancestry...but you have probably done that....

Foggy
Yes Ive looked on IGI, according to all the info i haveit all states Scotland, so that's all i know., that's why i did wonder if she was married previously and Mellors was not her birth name

Joan
According to someone who looked at the parish records on the marriage for me, they said the date was the only thing stated , perhaps i need another look.

Isn't it frustrating that the numerators just put Scotland.....just the same for my 3x great grandfather born 1801 Scotland........my Irish ancestors however did manage to get the place name in....

Did the marriage records give witnesses or anything helpful?
And it should have confirmed her as spinster or widow?

Ellen is one of my "brick walls"can anyone advise where i should look next.
This is what i know about Ellen

Born Sotland 1802 but i dont have which place.

She married my 3x Grandfather George Drury b 1788 Linby Nottinghamshire on 30th January 1830.at Dt. Mary's Nottingham, confirmed on Parish records.

I have her traced on census records 1841 to 1891

So what i am seeking is the place where she was born.

I also wonder if she was married before she married my 3X Grandfather, but this is only my thought based on the fact she was 28 when she married him.

A big ask i know, but any help/ suggestions would be most welcome.

George
