Has anyone come across a Oxer, Cambridgeshire? My great great grandfather was apparently born there in circa 1820.

Thanks Jim

Although I'm now a little confused with your info. My relative was John but the surname is Hall, I'm not sure what your reference to Lucy is. Has anyone ever heard of Oxer? Did it once exist? Or is this a miss print in spelling or something or other?

There is an OVER in Cambridgeshire.
In the example I gave, clearly OXER is a mistake.

Jim, my BVRI discs tell me that Over is in Cheshire. Is there another one in Cambridgeshire?
The discs also show an Oxhey in Hertfordshire.

Hi Margaret
Strange place England. We have several places which share names.
Depends how good a reference aid you have but I think Multimap is fairly good.
Over Cambridge
Over Avon
Over Cheshire
Over Gloucester
There could be more.
Regards Jim

Over is 5 m E of St Ives, but there's no Ouse bridge, so it's more like three times that by road.
