Know it has been some time since I used these records but it used to be that if you knew date of arrival and ship you could enter this and then search for a passenger. Tonight I am going up the pole - I have a child aged 5 who is travelling with his mother and 2 siblings but can I even find the others - I have Cornelius William Burgess aged 5 arriving on 10 June 1914 in N,.Y. on The Oceanic - I have no idea of their names - father also Cornelius went ahead in 1912.

Who ever said research was fun???? Any suggestions help gratefully received.

I have access to the passenger lists on Findmypast and can have a look there for you.

Mandy :)

Update - I've found them, give me a few minutes to copy paste the results here for you.

I just went to the Ellis Island site, typed in Cornelius Burgess, clicked on the one aged 5, clicked on "ship manifest". Had to go to the previous page to find the one with names. There's:
Daisy, 24
Daisy, 7
Cornelius William, 5
Dorothy Gladys, 3
From Portsmouth. Nearest relative, sister-in-law Mrs Wilkinson, White Hart Hotel, Britton St., Portsea, Portsmouth.
Go to next page and they're going to join husband/father, C. Burgess, 350-6 Collins Ave, Pittsburg, Pennsylvania.

Thank you so much - that is this family sorted now from this end - will hand over to cousin in USA to continue. That I think is the quickest reply I have ever had.
Much appreciated.

It's funny, Chris, I found my first ever US ancestors this week so I've become quite familiar with passenger lists etc! My Dad's uncle sailed on the Oceanic in 1909 then came back, got married, and returned there with his wife in 1910 on the Lusitania.

Glad you've got the info you needed.

Mandy :)
