	Please could anyone tell me where to look for an adoption in 1881. I have Lucy Broughton adopted by Ann Carr and Jeremiah Sorsby. Lucy was born 1877 and on the 1881 census she has been adopted Moira

Member Since: April 2006 Posts: 5,644 Send Message	Moira, adoption did not become legally recognised in Britain until the 1920's, so it may have been that nothing was recorded as such, this was often the case.
