Census question

Hi everyone,

I don't want to sound thick here but could someone tell me which month of the year a census is taken?

I am trying to locate a birth and the person was 7 months old on the 1861 cenus. She used 4 first names during her life so it would be good to know which month the census was taken so I can narrow down my search.

Thank you.

Janine

I know in 1851 it was 31 March, but one or more other censuses were in June. I have seen it somewhere on the internet, I think. Too late at night (after 11 pm here down under) for me to want to google.
Huia.
