I have to get the kids up for school so I will leave it with you

your friend can order any of the certs online, they are about $28. if she orders one of the parents death certs if will have noted all the children that are alive at the time od death.

Cannot find Joh R E Flynn, but there are heaps of John Flynn'

If your friend would like info on electoral rolls after 1936 she can contact the State Library of NSW

use the "ask a librarian service" on the right of the page. It is a online look up service, you need to be specific on what you want so put state, what time period etc. They will even post the details to you overseas.
