I have received a birth certificate and the occupation of the father is
Driver Royal Engineers No.1352 and then there is an address.

Any idea what this number means please?

Thanks

Maisy

It is his 'enlisted' number.

What year is the birth certificate?

If it is Before/During 1WW then you may be able to find aditional info (for the father) from online records available from Ancestry.

Assuming the father is no longer alive.....

What is the father's name?....Not only only the one given on the Birth Crtificate but also what you have as a known variant.

Using 1352 as a search criteria for 1WW Pension records as a Regimental Number it throws up 241 records.

Are you willing to give specific names....They would help narrow down the search.

You're partially in luck. There is a medal card for him. No real additional info, just the standard medals he was awarded. It does show a second service number for him - 568378. That may be of use elsewhere. Unfortunately, the service record and pension records do not show up. Hopefully, it may be that they haven't got to that letter yet.

Thanks for that Rob. I'll make a note of this and hopefully it will come in useful later.

Thanks again for your time.
