freebmd.org.uk is the best place to search bmds .. and it's FREE

ancestry is downloading theirs from freebmd, so is always a month or so behind!


don't know where family relatives is getting there information, but it sounds as if it could also be from freebmd. The mmn was added to the registration at some point during 1911 so will show on all registrations after that date.

Some county bmds (eg Lancashrie) show mmn well before that date .... and those sites are also free.

I have access to both at the moment. There are no census records on Family Relatives. I find it is far quicker to search BMD on family relatives, Ancestry seems quite slow when trying to view a page and the mmn is on the births from 1911 to 1920 at present.

It is very useful as Reg says to cross reference.

Their home page will tell you what resources they have...you can cross-refer with Ancestry to make a valid comparison.........
