There's one on the next page that looks more like "Odd Boy". Could it be another term for errand boy? i.e. Odd job boy?

in 1881 he was a shepherd could it be farm boy ??

There are 3 on other pages looks like Bold on the first one, ! But Errand seems to make the most semse given their ages.
