I have looked and as you say selecting all, but they don't show up.

The Overseas births on Findmypast are not restricted to the services. If you believe that this was for a British subject abroad then guess you have another look - when you are asked to select the type of birth abroad select - ALL - then you shouldn't go wrong.,

Does anyone know of any good websites where you can apply for birth certs from France. The births took place in the 1880s. They are not on findmypast as they were non regimental or marine.
