Could someone please tell me how i could find out when / where my fathers birth parents were born. All i know is that his father was called Thomas Albert Joseph and his mother's name was Pamela.

He was born out of wedlock in September 1945 and was brought up by his paternal grandparents i believe.

Many Thanks

you will need his birth certificate first.

The best place to start is his birth certificate, but as he was born out of wedlock it is unlikely that the father's name will be given.

There's no census information available yet for this timeframe so its going to be difficult to determine the ages of his parents. If they eventually got married you could get their ages from the marriage certificate.

You need a surname first though which is why the birth cert is the best place to start.
