Hyphened Names

If the name is definitely hyphenated then it should come under "P" in the alphabetical order. However some names that people hyphenate are actually just middle names, i.e. Pipkin being a middle name and Harding being the surname. You would need to look under both. Sometimes Pipkin may be the surname and Harding added if that were a stepfather's name.

Who are you looking for and when?

When looking in the BMD registers where do they put hyphened names, in alphabetical order or at the end of a section, where? I have a Pipkin-Harding and another similar and can’t find them anywhere.
