Woh, you've come up trumps again Alice! Many thanks. I'll get to work straight away.

Hi Ann, a Walter 'Hastie' Dutton who can be found on the CWGC and died in 1916 has been niggling me.

He's registered as South African and was fighting for the South African Infantry.

I'm suspecting he is a close relative of Walter Henry Dutton and I'm trying to find any other family links with South Africa.

I've no idea about South African research or army history though!

Thanks again

Oh yes, I can agree as I come 50% Scouser (if I can honour myself with the title).

And doesn't it just make us and our ancestors all the more interesting!

Yes, I have Alice, thank you very much for the thought though.

I've also tried Ellis Island so he didn't head off to America in the early 1900s.

I suspect he stayed in the Liverpool/Birkenhead area until his death whenever that was.

I'm searching for the death of Walter Henry Dutton born in 1861 West Derby. He was still alive in 1901.

I spent hours last night going through the Death Registers on Ancestry last night but didn't come up with anything that fitted the criteria-- even up to 1961.

I'd like to find out anything about his life post 1901 but I'm getting a bit stuck.
