Oh, that is interesting - and I know it can't be Elizabeth. Wonder if "Annis" could be some kind of mishearing? Although I followed their mother's line back and found the Edinborough girls had at least two cousins named Annis - perhaps Annis became "Eliza".

There is a possible on 1851 census with husband John Seamore

OK, then, here goes - this is what I have on them:

Sarah Edenborough chr 1 Aug 1819 Thoroton, Notts. In 1841 she is living with her mum Mary (b. 1782 Grantham) and sister Annis (christening of Annis to follow) in Thoroton. Mother Mary is independent, Sarah is a lace runner, Annis also "independent".

In Dec qtr 1844 Bingham reg dist. Sarah "Edinborough" married Robert Peacock. He was possibly born in Thoroton (potential siblings on IGI but not him) in 1821. Robert dies in 1847. They had one daughter - Rebecca Peacock chr. 9 Nov 1845 at Thoroton - I have trawled that parish on the IGI and there seem to have been no other children.

Rebecca Peacock died in 1854 - in 1851 she and Sarah are living with Mary Edenborough (Sarah's mum). There is a marriage in Bingham (Jun qtr 1852) for a Sarah Peacock to either William Smith or William Mather but I haven't found a likely Sarah in 1861.

Annis Edenborough is a bit easier - I think. She seems to have been written down as Eliza in 1841 (living with mother again, occupation "lace runner"). There was an Edenborough sister named Elizabeth but I have her accounted for - she married George Bailey in 1840.

Hope this is not too confusing. I thought Annis may have been misread as "Annie" but not much luck with that, either. Thanks for your help - it is much appreciated.

I think I am! I need one that says the bride was Rebecca Saunders formerly Edenborough . . .

Mind you, saying that, she is not the only puzzle - her sister Sarah married a man named Robert Peacock. Peacock died, so did their daughter Rebecca and Sarah vanishes off the face of the earth. As does Annis, the youngest sister.

I suspect they all went and hid in the shed when the census forms were filled in . . . this family is turning out to be a pest!

I think you are going to have to get some certs to prove this one !

Thanks, Laptop. I was just looking back over the census records and I think Isaac - assuming he is the one who married my Rebecca - was very quick at remarrying.

If I've got him right, he seems to have been married in the 1861 census but then marries Rebecca in the Dec. qtr., and I think he may have married again by the 1871 census night!

I think you might have solved it, Laptop. I have checked the 1871 census - I can find an Isaac Jackson who is widowed and living in Derbyshire (and Mansfield reg district seems to cover Notts and Derbyshire) but I can't find one living with a wife called Rebecca.

Thanks very much for your help - I noticed there is another Rebecca Saunders in 1891 who could be the death registration from 1893. Her age is a year or so out, but that seems about right.

Just followed Bessy Saunders back too - looks like she was Elizabeth, married to Thomas in 1871.

kate, mansfield is not far from Scarrington, maybe her new hubby had a home there.

That one is interesting, Lindsey. I will have to work back to see if I can find a "Bessy" any earlier - I suppose "Bessy" could be quite easily misheard for "Becky".

That is indeed her, Laptop. Have just now come across this death, which might be relevent if she did marry the Isaac Jackson mentioned before.

Is there anyone out there with a creative brain who can help me track down Rebecca Saunders tonight, as I seem to be a bit stuck.

Rebecca Edenborough (or Edinborough, or Edenborrow) was born c. 1810 in Scarrington, near Bingham, Notts. On 29 Nov 1832 she married John "Saunders" at nearby Orston.

I have identified a death for John - a John Saunders died Sep qtr 1867 Bingham reg dist - and I thought I'd got one for Rebecca -

but I can't seem to see her after 1861 on the census. She and John turned up in 1841 as "Sandon" and in 1861 as "Landers", but I can't track her down after this.

If anyone can suggest anything, I would be very grateful. (I suppose it's not impossible that she remarried.)
