Genes Reunited Family Tree - Multiple Marriages

FTM 2008 is the latest version, when it first came out there were a lot of problems with missing features in it that were in all the previous versions.

Creating family trees was one of the missing items, you could only create one sort of tree when it first came out but that has now changed with the free downloadable updates that are available.

There's only one thing missing now from 2008 that was in all the previous versions now and that's the ability to create an "All in One" tree, a tree showing everybody in the file all on one tree. This will no doubt be in another free update soon.

If it's trees you want to create then FTM 2006 is the way to go.

TWR computing sell the single program CD for about a tenner including P&P, beware of cheaper versions as they may be the "Starter Edition" this version does not have all the features of the full version.

2008 is a complete rewrite of the FTM program and looks vastly different from previous versions. So if you start with a previous version it will be a complete new learning curve to get to know the 2008 version.

At the moment I still recommend 2006 as the one to use, as far as I know this is the only program that will create a book quite easily but I may be wrong about it being the only program to do it.

Thank you all for your replies. I am looking at the moment to buy Geneology software. FTM seems very popular but the latest edition 17th appears to have disappointing reviews. Any suggestions.

Things I would be looking for, would be the ease of printing out the tree or various family lines from the tree and creating a book from the tree/information that was inputted.

I think you can add another spouse just by clicking on add partner and then filling in the details of the 2nd marriage

It's best if you get FTM 'Family tree maker' (about £10)

Transfer your tree to that, put your tree in order on FTM,then transfer it back to GR.
(Transfers are done by making a gedcom file)

Your tree will stay the same on GR untill you have transfered it back in the correct order.

Hope this helps.

I can only see on the online GR family tree where you can only input the details of one marriage - am I correct or is there a way to add more marriages to a specific person named on your tree???

Thanks Kaye
