Can anyone tell me what to do to download an image from Scotlands People. I was able to do it before on my PC as it was Windows XP but now I have this new laptop and its Windows Vista I am unable to download the image.

Hi Betty,
Don`t know if you have been "sorted" privately but it`s nice to have the answer in order that others may share it if they are experiencing similar problems.
Here is one possible solution.
At the top of Scotlands People, click on `details` and at the bottom of the new list you will find Application Options.
In Image Viewer you can then choose whether to view your image using ActiveX, Java, or download them directly to your computer.
The latter sends a TIFF file which you can save or open in the Windows Photo Gallery.
Don`t forget to click on Update Details.

Hi Frank,

Sorry I only just saw your message when I checked my threads. I managed to sort the problem out myself as I needed the image to forward to someone else as I did the lookup of a marriage for them and needed to send it to them in an e-mail.

Anyway the main problem was my previous PC was wndows XP and I used Java viewer which worked very well to view images from Scotlands People.
The problem started with my laptop being Windows Vista and I couldn't view the images as before, I therefore had to use the direct dowload method to get the images stored on my computer.

Hi Betty,

That`s fine,I also have Vista Premium and use ActiveX for viewing the whole image, while the direct download is good for puting images into Family Tree Maker etc.

Frank.
