You say you want to find out about someone after they came out of the workhouse - `the only records held of this will be the same ones as for other people. Marriage / death records, historical directories etc. Workhouses didn't keep records on an individual once they had left

Which workhouse are you interested in and when was your person in it?

Reggie
i would like to obtain information about an individual from the early 1900s ie why they was there and what happend to them after they left.
wont be able to find anything on the census as it was after 1901.

You don't indicate which records you mean.......

Censuses recorded the names etc of people who were in workhouses on the night in question........as for more detailed info - as advised by Sam - try the appropriate County Records Office.

Hi thanks Sam
i have just been on the phone to the history chap there ans he says there are no records to his knowledge of the individuals that was there .
But i have seen on roots that there is a chap on there who was offering information about the people that was there .
but he must have changed his email because the email i sent him came back.
so im sure somewhere out there is some records.

They should be listed on the census as normal but for more detailed records, they will most likely be held at the County Records Office for the area concerned.
