Is it possible to search prison records for individual prisoners?
My grandmother, who died in 1980, served a sentance in Holloway. I don't know the exact year but am sure it was the 1930s and I think it was for bigamy.
Anyone point me in the right direction.

hi there,
I am not sure if you can read the records because of the 100 year closure on a lot of documents. I had a prison relative in 1888 and read the record in the local archive department, although you have to be careful with the content use, i.e. copywrite issues. But you could check the local paper if you knew the exact date and look in the local archive department belonging to that district because it might have been put in the paper. You can then ask for a copy of the paper at a small cost as i had to email the local archive department with exact dates for three articles and they arrived in about 10 days.
thanks
