I have recently found out that one of my ancestors was declared bankrupt. Where would the best place be to find out more information?

Have a look on the London Gazette site. It may be mentioned in the Gazette, which is name searchable.

Morag, My ancestor was bankruptcy as well. I found the notices on the London Gazette website and the Prosecutor's Bill in the Local archives. All the rest of the bankruptcy records are in London at Kew and you will have to search them there. Heather
