	I have recently found out that one of my ancestors was declared bankrupt. Where would the best place be to find out more information?
	Researching: No free man shall be seized or imprisoned, or stripped of his rights or possessions, or outlawed or exiled. Nor will we proceed with force against him except by the lawful judgement of his equals or by the law of the land. To no one will we sell, to no one deny or delay right or justice.

	Have a look on the London Gazette site. It may be mentioned in the Gazette, which is name searchable.

Member Since: August 2006 Posts: 172 Send Message	Morag, My ancestor was bankruptcy as well. I found the notices on the London Gazette website and the Prosecutor's Bill in the Local archives. All the rest of the bankruptcy records are in London at Kew and you will have to search them there. Heather
