In the 1950s, scholars from Uxbridge who passed the 11+ often chose to go to Wembley County Secondary Grammar School, which was only a short walk from Alperton tube station on the Picadilly line. This school opened in the 1920s. The Metropolitan Line also ran from Uxbridge thru Harrow to Wembley Park (just N of the stadium) and beyond. Wembley County was replaced by Alperton

I don't know when the tubes got to Uxbridge, but you may have to consider a much bigger geographic area than you initially thought.

The local record Office would be able to tell you.

Hi Karen, you could try the search feature on friends reunited for local schools in a certain area. You don't need to be a member to search.

Hi

does anyone know how to find out which schools were in an area years ago. I am particularly looking for schools in Uxbridge and Harefield (Middx) in the 1920s. I've googled but not got anywhere -only confused!

Is there anyway to search to see if relatives attended the local village schools.

Thank you
Karen.
