What other records can I try pre1837. My ggggrandfather was born c. 1776. His wife was born 1776. I can find nothing in parish records relating to baptisms, marriages or burials. I have also tried the IGI. Don't know where else to look. Please can someone help before I go insane.

Have you searched the local Record Office /Archive PRegisteres under BTs' Bishops Transcripts.........as often local church orignals got lost or were destroyed over time,,,,,,,,,,,

They may not have been bapt,?

Have you searched the actual parish records or have you been looking on line? Were they both born in the same parish? Marriages usually took place in the wife's parish.

You could try Pallot's Marriage Index (on Ancestry). It doesn't cover all areas, though.

Have you tried Scottish records? Lots of Mortons there.
