If you run a marriage search on FreeBMD using the man's name and already know the woman's forename, 9 times out of 10 you should be able to identify your ancestor's wife.

Free BMD is an excellent site and worth looking at, I find it easy to use too.

If you can find the births of any children, mother's maiden names will be on their birth certificates.

Im new to all this and would appreciate any tips. I have traced the males in my family but find the females hard due to maiden names. Thanks
