I agree with Christina ....... it is usually written in what the disability is/was.


The tick is probably just the enumerator or eprson above him checking off names as they were transferred or counted.

In my experience, when one of these disabilities applies, they don't just tick the column - they write in what the disability was.

It might not be ticks in the disability column. It may just be the enumerator ticking off people as he added up numbers.

What does this mean on the 1901 census at the top?

My g g grandparents had ticks on this column !!!!!!!!!

Most of the adults on the page had this ticked too - does it literally mean what it says and could it apply to the uneducated as well??
