Would somone on this site please post the name of the site you are all talking about. Family lore says that one of my great Uncles was tried for murder at the old Bailey but I do not know how to find if this is true or not.

Many thanks

I did jury service at the Old Baily. Not that any one here relics were involved but it was still cool- was in number 1 Court- the most famous off all. Murder trial and I even got to say verdict cause I bullied everyone to be foreperson- Guilty by the way in case anyone not fallen asleep by now. LOL. Then again must say it was all exciting till the knife used was passed around- then reality set in and you realised that this weapon had ended a real life- at that point it moved from a tv program to real life. An experience tho and one I would repeat if called to do so.

Well got my GGF paternal side being stabbed three times by a Spanish sailor who was assaulting a woman with 2 mates in the docks at Rotherhithe? GGF heard her scream (he was 6 ft 2" tall and well built apparently) rushed to her aid and nearly got killed.

Well they added a lot of trials in April, right up to 1914 I think. It was the first time Id found anything on my Horsteads and gobsmackingly a murder trial with my GGFX2, couldnt believe it. (And he got only 2 months for manslaughter in 1844, thats amazing)

I was grateful for the nudge also, as I found some of mine on there (witnesses of course, not defendents - lol - although I'm sure there will be some on the wrong side of the witness box when they get more on line)

Thanks for the nudge - it's a fascinating site.

I can't believe it. It's ages since I looked at this site and there is an ancestor of my husband's who was a witness in the trial of someone passing counterfeit coins. How exciting. Thank you.
