Registrations didn't start until Sept qtr 1837.

You will only find details of the marriage in parish registers.

You won't get a marriage certificate from 1817 as registration didn't start until 1837.

The best you can hope for is a copy of the marriage record from parish records which will be at the County Records Office for whichever county the marriage took place.

You may find the marriage on the IGI on www.familysearch.org

If you can't get to the county record office you can order filmed copies of parish registers from your nearest LDS Family History Centre (addresses on www.familysearch.org) for a few pounds. They keep the film for about a month to give you time to go in and view them.

I have a copy of a marriage from parish registers in 1811, which the library in the area obtained for me.

It gives the names of the 2 witnesses and which parish the bride and groom were from and their signatures or mark if they couldn't write.

Dear Arana,

On the IGI record, click on the source # link (0561161) and drill down (also use View Film Notes button when it appears). These show what the original records are (St Martin in the Fields OPRs here), where they are (or were when filmed - i.e., Westminster city library) and the LDS film # and the years covered
