He resembles the James in your household. The listing of an address in England wouldn't rule him out; my gr-uncle is shown as having parents "of East Ham, Essex, England", when they'd immigrated to Canada 10 years earlier and his mother was deceased.

Aha, I find someone who shares a name with you looking for Baker/Fautleys who immigrated in 1907. So is that them?

Do you have Fautley names and dates, and were they Saskatchewan too?

These are the only Fautleys to Canada at findmypast:

Unfortunately, Saskatchewan's privacy laws are more stringent than some, as Margaret pointed out (the odd province has access to later deaths).

Canada is much tighter on releasing bmd information than the UK, most provinces have a 100/70/50 year rule, depending on which record.

There is also no central registry .......... registration of bmds is a provincial matter, and they have total control. So it becomes a matter of searching province by province ....... and being Canada, each province has different regulations!


I've never had to do much research on Canadian records as I am the immigrant, so I can't give you much advice


....... and I'm hoping that I don't find more than the one rellie I have just discovered died here. I found out about her when I found an obituary card regarding her death in about 1926 that had been sent to another relative still in the UK. Her name does not show on the death rgistration of either of the two provinces that were named.

She is on a far branch of my husband's family, so I may just forget about her, coward that I am

There are 17 Snowsells there, some in Saskatchewan.

There are some vital statistics for Saskatchewan online but only births more than 100 years ago and deaths more than 70, no marriages.
I don't know what to suggest.

All it says is that they landed in Quebec, 22 Aug. 1926 aboard the Ascania (Cunard).

It doesn't mean anything that they landed in Quebec, that's about as far inland as you can go by ship. From there it's usually by train, so they could have gone anywhere.
