Hi Sandra

I found George Samuel Downes on Ancestry WW1 Records. There are 27 pages to look at.

If you type in George Samuel Downes his should be the first record on the list. The number given is 22865 but if you look through the images you will see on the second or third page that this number is crossed out and replaced with 33994.

I have the name of Private 33994 George Samuel Downes and that he was with the 3rd Kings Liverpool Regiment during the 1st World War, but can find no details by putting in his details. I would appreciate some help please. have tried just putting in george and missing out Samuel - to no avail. This is my great grandfather and his army details were on the birth certificate of his son born whilst away. By trade he was a brass cutter.
Any help would be really appreciated - I thought that having his number it would be easy!!
Thank you sandra
