Thanks Sue - I am sure I have him, b 1880 with parents - I have some info from another person on this site, and there is yet another member who won't open his tree in case I use the information!!! (his loss because I can give him more than I would get!!)
If you read my posting on genetic birth defects on your other thread about tree sizes you will understand why I want the data, but the linkage is through 5 generations and if I get certs for everything it would be too expensive

I did a look on BMD for births of possible Alberts and there are too many of them for you to make any progress at all unless you get that marriage I'm afraid.

I think you are going to have to buy Alberts marriage cert, to make any progress on this one.

Hi Peter,

I think this might be James and Mary. They're in Thorndon, only about a mile from Thwaite in 1841.

Thanks Sue - I buy certificates regularly. I know I can do it this way, but first I would like to try finding them on censuses - to marry in 1903 albert should appear on at least twio censuses...mistranscribed. At the other end, from an 1819 marriage I would expect to find at least one parent on the 1841 if not 51 - again possibly mistranscribed - trouble is I can't work out what they have been mistranscribed as. It's obvious that at some time they moved from Suffolk to Yorkshire which is why I attach some credence to John, Emma and Edith - but again I can't find them on the 1881........

It looks as if you are unfamiliar with how this works.

You go to FreeBMD
http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/

Search for the ancestor. Find a likely registration and you can check that a marriage has the spouse on the same page. That code I gave you has the right spouse on the same page.

Then you use the code to order the certificate and the best option is online
http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificate/

But I have already found Albert for you

I just gave you the link with the code for the certificate!!! All you have to do is use that code to order the certificate.

Marriages Dec 1903
Garrad Albert Tadcaster 9c 1505

What's wrong with that?

It would help, though, if I could find an Albert!!

First of all buy the marriage certificate

Marriages Dec 1903
Garrad Albert Tadcaster 9c 1505

You can order it online if you don't already know that.
http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificate/

That will tell you the names of their fathers and you can then search for parents in censuses.

Do you know Albert's father's name or where and when he was born?

Peterkinz

Peterkinz Report 5 May 2008 20:01

Mary Robinson b 1785 Thwaite, Suffolk married (16 11 1819) to James Garrad.

Albert Garrad married Rose Belcher in 1903, Tadcaster.

I know Albert is descended from James, but can't find anything in census - can anyone help me make the connection please?

Peter
