Birth/Death/Marriage Certificates online?

There are some unscrupulous firms who offer BMD certs at astronomical prices - always go via the GRO or the local records offices - sometimes local offices charge a little more e.g. £7.50 but it varies between offices. They are worth using if you have a query with a cert as you can send a cheque with a self stamped address envelope - if your request doesn't match the cert - they post back your cheque - but with the GRO if they do reference checking you have to pay.

Hi Lisa,
The cost is £7 wherever you get them from.

Don't know about anyone else but I always try and get mine from the register office local to the birth/marriage/death I want.
They tend to be much quicker than the GRO (often by return of post) and more importantly they'll usually check with you that it's the correct certificate before they send it/charge you for it.

The GRO will just send you what you've asked for and it's often not what you really wanted so you've wasted £7!
