Where Do I Go Now?

I wondered if anyone had any ideas for me.

I am trying to find my husbands grandfather, we were told by family he was born and then returned to scotland, so we duly paid for a scottish birth certificate, stating the year range to search, they came back with nothing.

Next we tried England and Wales, again nothing.

The search criteria is his name, year of birth and also his father name.

I have got all this information from his marriage certificate.

Where do I look now, his birth year is after the 1901 census, so can't look there either.

Any ideas?

Hi

No all I have is his marriage certificate, as I have been unable to prove anything else.

William Blair, born 1910/1911, his age is 27 on marriage certificate.
Married Charlotte mernagh - 28/4/1938
Fathers name - Andrew Blair - Carpet Salesman.

I have found a Andrew Blair in West Bromwich but he is a professional - i.e, English teacher and then later a headmaster.

Many thanks, Angi

Sorry meant to say they married in Birmingham, and lived their until 1948 after WW2, when he split up with charlotte, though they were not divorced.

Never been heard of since.

what address does it give on the marriage cert, does it give any address for William's father.

Did William and Charlotte have any children, perhaps their names might give a clue to William's parents as names were often carried down.

It may well be that Charlotte is from Birmingham but William is from somewhere else.

The address is on the marriage certificate and the family still lived there until 1999 when Charlotte Died.

William apparently returned from WW2 stayed for a couple of years and then left the family in 1948.

Williams father is stated as Andrew Blair - Carpet Salesman, with no address.

William & Charlotte had 5 children, Kathleen, John, & James. Janet & Jean, who both died.

Just had an idea which might enable you to get his date of birth. Do you know when and where William Blair died?

Angela

Hi

Yes Charllotte Mernagh, MMN Hatcher.

I don't know if William had died, but I presume he has, but had no luck finding him there either.
