Looks like Dna is the only option at the moment.
I'll have to save up while i keep looking for more clues just had a look at the price on ancestry!

We have the same thing ...my dad was very dark he always thought it was a throw back thing but Ive never found a proper explanation so it looks like dna is the only option for me too.

Also sometimes the names in your tree will give you a clue to their origin, look at the female lines and research where these names may originate.

Not noticed anything on the census i have but will keep trying. Maybe a dna will be the best option. Thanks again Pamx

If you can find them on the census if you are that far back it may even tell you

Can anyone point me i the right direction.... I have traced a fair way into my family tree, with help, Thank You!
I'm quite sure that somewhere in my family we are of mixed race and would love to find out where. My father side of the family had darkish skin as my son and myself. Is there a way i can start to find out?
