Linda, you are a complete star. I was totally stumped, but obviously there has been an error in the transcription. I shall try to think a bit more laterally in future! (Can't imagine how I found them in the first place!!). Thank you so much.
Joan - yes, I know of the back-to-backs in Inge street (and Hurst Street). I have never been, though I live in Birmingham - for shame.
It was a funny thing, I picked up a leaflet the other week, and realised that my ancestors lived on the same street!! (Anne is my great-grandmother).

I assume all the houses were the same, that is built around a court with shared laundry facilities and such. I was just interested to know who lived in these houses at the time. My Nan (Anne's daughter) also lived in such a house as a child and young woman, not sure where - will have to ask Mum!

I shall definitely visit now, as I will be able to see just how they lived - I believe one of the houses is even displayed as in the 1870's, brilliant.

Enough rambling, thanks so much again.

Am I going mad? I previously found my ancestors on the 1871 census (via ancestry) and wanted to go back, but can't find them!! What have I done?
Would anyone be kind enough to help me please?
Their names were Elizabeth Browning (born c1823) and her children Anne, Eliza and John. They lived at 14 Court, 5 Inge St Birmingham.
I actually want to find out who was living at numbers 50-54.

Thank you!!
Jan
