Thanks Margaret sorry I havent been back on for a couple of days.
It certainly took him a long time to get round to marrying her.
She certainly wasn't living with him anymore and was lodging somewhere else - she then married her landlord. She was a rare old bird lol

Fanny and John married sept qt 1869 Strand gro ref 1b 890
Youngest daughter Alice Pike Cable 1869 sept qt Lambeth gro ref 1d 277.
Perhaps Fanny put the hard word on him to make an honest woman of her after Alice was born

John Pike born about 1811 died 1885 mar qt St Saviour Southwark gro ref vol 1d page 7.

Wonder if Fanny was with him when he died. She wasnt with him in 1881. Perhaps they split up

So John Pike lived with Fanny Cable from 1851 census till 1871 census when his name changes to Henry Pike
.
Seven Pike/Cable children born to them

Did he ever marry her?

John Pike married 1812 St James occ scale maker.
Albert Pike 1864 Lambeth.
Alice Pike 1870 Lambeth.

Fanny Pike widow.1824 Bermondsey occ annuitant.
Alice Harris married dau. 1870 Lambeth.
Alice Pike granddaughter 2 months Hackney.

1901 census.
Fanny Pike wid.1830 Southwark London occ needlework
Alice Harris dau wid.1870 Lambeth occ tie maker

If he was a smith in 1841 meaning a blacksmith then he could have been making scales and bedheads from iron

Knowing what he was in 1861, it could be scale maker.

He was a Smith in 1841
