Info for ordering a cert. Help please

I am going mad I think! The info below was kindly found by a fellow member and sent to me. My problem is this. I wish to order a cert what info do I use?

You need a lookup for overseas births.
This will give a volume and page number to quote for the relavant certificate.

That information is taken from the familysearch.org site - you need the actual references to buy the certificate. See if anyone can do a look up on overseas births for you - try on records board.

You need to access the overseas records on the findmypast website.

The info you have is taken from the baptism records, and not relevant for civil documents.

Look for a thread where a kind GR member is offering findmypast lookups........there are at least two that I know of..........

If one does not check the records, one will never know..............

Registration was not compulsory in England/Wales until 1875, but there are still plenty of birth registrations on record for the period 1837-1874

Lester, was this a military family - in which case have you tried looking for the fathers info rather than the missing cert?
