Sorry for not replying sooner, been at college all day. Didnt explain it very well I have him on the 1861 census after he married, but he married in 1860.

It is the 1841 and 1851 censuses I cannot find him on, he is like the elusive pimpernel, so are his parents etc.

Thanks loads for taking the time to help.

Marilyn, you say Samuel married in 1861, was that after the March Census?

There is a Samuel Rogers of about the right age in 1861 with his aunt and uncle Thomas and Hannah Rogers, his occ is 'Packer'

William`s occupation is a greengrocer on Samuels wedding certificate, it doesnt say his occupation on Samuels birth certificate.

Thanks for looking Kathleen, hope I havent come to a dead end with this one.

Kate, thats an idea he could have remarried, but still cant find a Samuel less than 10 years age difference in the area.

Thanks to all of you for looking and advice.

William could by 1851 have another wife,,,,,,,,,?

have you found a Samuel born in the same area,

even if his age is out by a couple of years,?

he could be elsewhere as nephew or grandson,or even boarder?

Marilyn, I have looked at the image for that marriage and it is definately Mannell, it is typed not handwritten.

What was William's occupation on the birth cert?

Just wondered if any kind person would be able to have a quick look in the 1841 and 1851 census for a Samuel Rogers born September 1840 in Manchester, I have his father from marriage certificate.I have his birth certificate therefore have his parents as William Rogers and Sarah Manning, (although I cannot find a William Rogers and Sarah Manning in the bmds after 1837 I did find a William Rogers and Sarah Mannell in the Lancashire bmds marriages in 1839). Would it be possible for Sarahs maiden name to be transcribed wrong anywhere.

I have searched the censuses for Samuel and his mum and dad on a couple of sites, but can only find Samuel after he married in 1861 and later and cannot find his parents at all, maybe I am missing something or just having a bad day.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, not sure how to progress with William and Sarah as I have nothing on them.

Thank you

Marilyn
