Where have you been looking?

FreeBMD only goes up to about the early 1920s (look at the coverage page for further details).

For anything later than that you have to look at the FULL index on Ancestry, which takes ages to search as you have to go through the image for each quarter, one at a time.

right here we go --- i have found a marraige for
George R Woodhall Spt qrt 1942

Basford 7B 549

the surname at the side is Tilley

then have crossed referenced this with the name Tilley and no match, finally found the match for Eunice A Lilley same district and page numbers. they have transcribed George r Woodhall marraige details incorrectley.

i'm STILL having great trouble tracing anything about my paternal grandfather ..

all i know so far is his name , year and place of birth and mothers maiden name .. but can't find anything else (i'm beginning to wonder if he existed).. well i suppose he must have been around in '44 / '45 for my dad to be born ...

its very weird..

can i access any WW2 military records to see if he was serving in the war?
