Does anyone know of a web site for old "pubs"
I've tried to google the area,as i know the address but it must have closed
I can't make out the full name of the pub it looks like
"Slanhope Arms". 1-3 Sackville Street Barnsley South Yorkshire (It's the first name of the pub i can't see)

Thanks Pamx

i never heard of Stanhope before. There is a "Stanhope" in Barnsley but not at the address i have.
There is a "Fitzwilliam Inn" on Sackville Street but that's closed down now or i could have enquired over a change of name. Thanks Again Pamx

Alternatively, perhaps try the people running the "Innspire" website (a real ale site around Chesterfield - slightly too far south for your query, but they may have ideas on where to ask for pub history - their newsletter archives have articles on old pubs)
