I would also like to thank Frank for the link to installing AVG8. I've installed AVG8 this afternoon with no problems. Thanks very much.

Thanks for that link Frank
I too had problems with AVG slowing everything down to crawl and/or freezing completely.
Started from scratch this morning after uninstalling the old version and it went like a dream. In fact I do believe my pc is now running faster than it used to.
The new version is a lot less intrusive

When you go onto the AVG website click on the second link down NOT the top one that takes you to another site.
I tried several times on the top link then noticed the underneath one which states it's a direct link.
It finally worked but when I did a computer scan it highlighted all the times I'd clicked on the top link stating that it was 'rouge adware' !!!

Thank you everyone for your help. Today I had a message on my computer saying RUNDLL. Error loading link library [DLL] initialization routine failed. Could this have anything to do with my problem?

I tried from the AVG site last week and it failed. Just done it this morning from File Hippo, before reading this, no probs either.

I have been trying to download the latest AVG 8 but each time I get the message"Some instalation files are corrupt. Please download a fresh copy and retry instalation. CRC failes in files.dat. Unexpected end of archives." I am at a loss as what to do now. Any suggestions please.
