Can any kind person living in Manchester look this up for you via a trip to the records office. People have done this for me in Preston.

Hi everyone

Sorry to keep going on about my elusive Abraham Nowell, but thanks to Athena she reminded me of a baptism of Abraham Nowell born in Colne , Lancashire in 1760 (mine was married in Sedbergh, when he was a recruiting sergeant based in Settle in 1794, born 1762 according to death certificate) but I am at a loss to find his birth.

Athena reminded me of this one in Colne on the IGI and after looking at the recently found marriage of his daughter Elizabeth, born 1804, she married a Thomas Harrison, born 1782 in Colne Lancashire. I wondered if it may be possible that Thomas Harrison was a friend of the family being that much older than her.

Abraham Nowell`s parents (from Colne) are John and Grace Nowell and my Abrahams other two children are called John and Grace.

I am going to Manchester soon to seek out the birth of the Colne Abraham and Thomas Harrison`s family to see if I can find some sort of connection, but what do you think, do you think it is likely to be this one and am I any nearer.

Also going to Kendal soon to search the records there again, but just wondered in the meantine.

Sorry to be a mitherer but I would really really appreciate your comments and advice on this.

Thanks very much

Marilyn
