Kay,

I have never seen a death certificate that states whether or not a person is cremated. A death certificate is otained before the funeral and the person registering the death might not know exactly what is going to happen at the time of registration.

Do you know the date of death or area? Have you tried searching the local newspapers at the time (up to a few weeks after) to see if there were any funeral notices. Sometimes it mentions a crematorium/cemetery, then you can check with them whether it was a burial or a cremation.

Good luck.
