Hi,

After receiving my grandads service record from WWII, I have managed to decipher most of the abbreviations so i at least have an idea of where he went. However there are just a few reoccuring ones that i cant find and i hoped someone may be able to help?

He served in the RAF and the 'problem' ones are:
H.Q B.D -I guess the HQ is headquarters but not sure of the B.D.
6214 (BD) FLT
84 GAP SIGNALS-at least thats what it looks like.
123 Wing
418 A.S.P

Hope someone can shead some light on what these mean.

Thanks in advance,

Lindsay

Lindsay, what trade was your grandfather? Was he an armourer? It may give a clue as to the units he served with.

I suspect BD was Bomb Disposal, as in 6214 Bomb Disposal Flight.

RAF Thorney Island was HQ, No 123 Wing (12 May - 17 Jun 1944)
