Michelle & Shannette
You are probably right - i need to really register with one of these agencies, i only obtained all my details following the death of my adoptive parents, a proper organisation will know how to filter the info,
thank you both for your help & positive thoughts!!

Only a thought--I was also born in 1951 and began my search without the internet many years ago and guess what? --both my parents were abroad ! I used Norcap to help me and they were great.

I'm sure they do, my friend's taken 38yrs to pluck up the courage to start trying to make contact, he's convinced his adopted sister won't want to know him.

Good luck!

Michelle,
Yes i've tried posting details here & on sites in the past, i don't think my relatives want to claim me! but i'll keep trying, 1951 was the date so i need to get a move on time is against me.

I'm now trying Norcap.org.uk and afteradoption.org.uk as they have a tracing service. Also there's the GRO adoption contacts register.

Good luck!

Have you posted your birth relatives details on here ?- you might get lucky, someone might know them.

I'm having the opposite problem, I'm trying to help my friend find his sister who was adopted as a baby in 1971, I'm not getting far at all! His mum doesn't remember (or doesn't want to remember) enough details.

Click on Advanced Search, in the boxes that come up, put Joan Allan in the "Search Author" box.

Joan helps adoptees and I believe is very successful

I have my adoption certifcate, birth certificate, mothers name & fathers name also ID number & original papers from time of my 'signing over' - even with all this information I just cannot find any of the parents/relatives involved. Is this usual? or i am just unlucky ? Any tips please or any other ideas ?
