Hi,

One of my ancestors is listed on the 1901 census as having been born in Stand Mill, Staffordshire but I cannot find any trace of this place. Has anyone heard of it? I cannot find an earlier census return for her even though she was aged 15 on the 1901 census.

Hello,

Could it have possibly been Stambermill which according to www.old-maps.co.uk is between Stourbridge and Lye?
Google gives information about it too.

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for your input, I will check out all of your suggestions. I tried the Register Office in Stafford today and they have suggested it might be Stand Hill near Kingswinford, so there's another possibility to follow up on.
