Does anyone know whether during the potato famine families from one area would travel across together and move to one particular county? Having great difficulty finding place of origin as census only gives place of birth as ireland, and unfortunately only vague match on IGI.

I would say they definately would. They moved to wherever there was work and/or food.

They moved wherever they could to find food/work.

A lot of them emigrated - some to America others across the water to Liverpool (mostly, as well as other places in England) or Scotland.

Irish ancestors are notoriously hard to trace as a lot of records are missing/incomplete.

Good luck with your search!!!!!!!
