Ancestry corrections

I've seen corrections on Ancestry which are obviously jokes. eg one boy born in the 1990s has "***** Features" next to his name and another lad has corrections calling him "*****upthe****" amongst other insulting names! I don't know what swear words are allowed on here so I've put * to cover up - you'll have to guess! ;)

I'm guessing in both cases that their teenage mates have done this for a wind up, although it surprised me that they would bother to subscribe to Ancestry in order to do this?

Every time I find something incorrect, off goes the correction and I always get a polite response, followed a short time after by the correction appearing

I've put in quite a few corrections, and had a nice e-mail back thanking me.

One or more members on Ancestry are altering the spelling of GEORGE to GOERGE and it is driving me nuts.

Usually the name corrections take several weeks to appear.

Had quite a few people send me messages because they think if I have altered a name then I must be researching their family

Actually I found it to be quite speedy, what they did in my case is just put up another name next to the one they had as an alternative.

Very pleased, I have quite a few names I can go back to and correct.( when I get time)

I am most likely a dollar short and a day late but......

Had a break from doing my tree and when I went on ancestry noticed that you can actually put in your own correction when the name is mis-spelt or transcribed.

Just wondered if anyone else noticed this?
