Thanks everybody. I'll try to haggle them down.

I paid £55 last year after phoning and haggling. This year I allowed it to lapse because to be frank I had about a month when I had very infrequent access and they couldnt sort it.

Im waiting for a creeping email to offer me 20% off. If not, you can always get 15% cash back by going through quidco.com

I was on monthly & paying £9.95 but decided to look to see how much it would cost for a year. I went into "Upgrade" then pressed the back button & a pop-up appeared offering 20% discount ie £63.96.

Then I got caught up in the Maestro fiasco so I now have a letter offering me 20% discount next time I'm due.

Try giving them a ring on 0800 345 7924, you may have to cancel & resubscribe but for a saving of £16 it's worth it.

Well my subscription runs out on June 4th, my renewal is qouted at £79-95.

I have cancelled it and told them that others are renewing at much lower costs, and not new members.

Awaiting the outcome

You can try writing to them saying how disappointed you have been with , lack of images, etc whatever faults you have had and say you are concidering not renewing unless they can offer a better price. Worth a try

My Ancestry sub will run out in a couple of weeks and I've just had the email from them telling me the renewal fee is £79.99.

Last year there were a few threads on here about this topic and it seemed that people were paying all sorts of different fees and were managing to negotiate reductions with Ancestry by telling them that they knew of others on their genealogy forums who were getting the package for less.

I did the same, and got the price knocked down from £79.99 to £69.99.

Before I try the same thing again it would be useful to know what others are currently paying.

Thanks
Amanda
