thats very open ended they could have lived to a good old age so would mean too many years trawl. can you pin them down time wise .like dad was alive when son daughter marrried in 1935 !!!.

have you tried Freebmd to see if either died pre 1920

Yes i did check pre 1920 and i am not sure if they were alive when my grand parents got married or not so i might apply for there marriage cert. Thanks

Hi Debbie

That's a bit of a tall order, I'm afraid. It means someone has to manually search through every quarter of every death index for every year. If he lived to be 90 that would mean searching up to 1970!

I've found a medal card on Ancestry website for an Ambrose Waldren for WW1 -

Name: Ambrose Waldren
Regiment or Corps: Royal Warwickshire Regiment
Regimental number: 13748

Could this be the same man? It's an unusual name.

If that is him then at least you know to search for his death after 1914.

There are website you can join to search the indexes on - I use Ancestry which I find really good.

Are there no family members who might know a bit more about this couple? Even a vague idea of when they might have died - even searching a 10 year span is better than searching a 60 year span.

Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Thanks Athena, I found that yesterday about the medal card and i'm not sure if it's him or not but it is in the same area that he lived. He is down on my grandads birth cert as a Chemical manufacterers carter and no one else is alive to give me any more info that i already know, so who knows. Thanks

Debbie - that's a shame you've limited info on him. If you order the marriage certs of his children (which should state whether he was deceased or not), sooner or later you will have a better idea of the search span for his death.

It's just going to be a case of doing a bit of detective work to try to narrow the search span down a bit, I think. Don't give up hope just yet.
