Is it possible to obtain e birth cert with info from a census?Have searched endlessly for birth info without any luck.can anyone help please.Pauline

What kind of time are you looking at, Pauline? If you post the details I will have a look. If it's before 1875 it is possible that they just didn't register the birth.

Hello again thanks for replies.Pretty sure not Saffron Walden.Came under Cambridge.Family search states Cambridge .Also other census reports aresame but thanks for your kind help.pauline

Do you have his marriage certificate?
If so you could order the cert. that Mick found, stating that the father's name must be ( whatever )

If the birth was actually in 1836, this was before civil registration started.
Have you looked for a baptism on IGI to get an idea of years?

You will not find a birth.Registration did not start until July 1837.Best you can hope for is a baptism

Thanks Jim for your reply.Baptism on Ancestry do you mean.Or perhaps one of the free sites?.Must ask is your name Soton or are you from Southampton.Soton is one of my research names.Surely coincidence would be too great. Many thanks Pauline

Southampton it is!
The best place for pre 1837 bmds is;
familysearch igi(google)
I could only find William on the 1881??
If you can trace him in previous census' you may find him with his parents.
